MIAMI, Florida: Florida Circuit Court Judge Elizabeth Metzger has ruled in favor of Tiger Woods, rejecting a request by his former girlfriend, Erica Herman, to nullify a non-disclosure agreement she signed when they began dating in 2017.
Citing a recent law that limits enforcing such agreements in sexual harassment and assault cases, Herman requested for the agreement to be legally voided.
While Herman had not accused Woods of harassment or assault, her lawyer, Benjamin Hodas, indicated that the case could involve allegations of sexual abuse.
Because of the aggressive use of the Woods non-disclosure agreement against her, she was unsure whether she may disclose facts giving rise to legal claims she believes she has, Herman said.
The New York Times reported that in her ruling, Judge Metzger said that Herman's claims had been "implausibly pled," and approved Woods' requests to compel arbitration.
The paper added that Metzger stressed that Herman could have provided factual evidence for any claim relating to sexual assault or sexual harassment, but she has not done so.
