Trey "TreyDollaz" Wright sank two free throws with 7.2 seconds left, lifting Lakers Gaming to a 55-54 win over Kings Guard Gaming in group play for the NBA 2K League's 5v5 The Tipoff event on Wednesday.
The Kings' Reginald "Regg" Nash missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer, sealing the Lakers' win.
Arshia "Krazy" Karimi led the Lakers with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Brian "Logic_Stark" Lunsford logged 15 points to top the Kings.
In other Wednesday action, T-Wolves Gaming thrashed Blazer5 Gaming 69-52, NBL Oz Gaming topped 76ers GC 65-58, DUX Infinitos dumped Grizz Gaming 65-59, Pacers Gaming handled Jazz Gaming 68-58, Knicks Gaming downed Celtics Crossover Gaming 61-55, Magic Gaming got past Wizards District Gaming 81-73, NetsGC beat Hawks Talon GC 83-69, Pistons GT demolished Mavs Gaming 61-39 and Cavs Legion GC triumphed over Hornets Venom GT 73-68.
NBL, DUX and the T-Wolves all improved to 2-0 through the first two days of play.
The NBA 2K League 5v5 season will include three tournaments -- The Tipoff, The Turn and The Ticket -- that will set the field for the playoffs, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Washington.
Remote group play in The Tipoff runs through June 9, with bracket play set for June 14-17 in Washington.
